Meet the new guy: Melvin Ingram

Posted Apr 26, 2012

The Chargers selected South Carolina’s Melvin Ingram at No. 18 overall. Ingram, 6-foot-1 ½ and 264 pounds, will play outside linebacker. He is known for his uncommon blend of speed and overall athleticism for his size.

Ingram is the second consecutive defensive player to be selected by the Chargers in the first round. Illinois defensive lineman Corey Liuget was the 18th pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, making Ingram the sixth defensive player in eight years to be selected in the first round by the Chargers.
