Meet the new guy: Johnnie Troutman

Posted Apr 28, 2012

The Chargers selected Penn State Johnnie Troutman with the 149th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Troutman, 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, will compete for the left guard position open after the retirement of annual Pro Bowl selection Kris Dielman. Troutman did not allow a full sack in 32 starts at left guard for Penn State and is known as a powerful run-blocker.

Troutman is the second offensive player to be selected in this year’s draft. He joins outside linebacker Melvin Ingram at No. 18, defensive lineman Kendall Reyes at No. 49, strong safety Brandon Taylor at No. 73 and tight end Ladarius Green at No. 110.
