Meet the new guy: Brandon Taylor

The Chargers moved up five spots to select Louisiana State University safety Brandon Taylor with the 73rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Taylor, 5-foot-11 and 209 pounds, will compete with free agent signee Atari Bigby for San Diego’s starting strong safety job. He is known for his natural instincts and for his aggressive, physical presence in run support.

San Diego now has drafted three consecutive defensive players. The Bolts selected outside linebacker Melvin Ingram at No. 18 followed by defensive lineman Kendall Reyes at No. 49.
