Q: Thank you for showing some love to our defense. They are ballin' out right now! I don't see it in the media but Pagano and the defense deserve major credit. – Russell Warkins
A: The entire defense deserves some major kudos for their improved play of late. They really are peaking at the right time. As I noted in this week’s scouting report, the defense has 10 total takeaways in the last five games. Over the last three weeks they held the New York Giants, Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders to an average of just 297.7 yards and 15.7 points per game. They allowed only 265-yards against last Sunday against Oakland, the least given up this season. The Chargers held the Raiders to 59 yards on the ground a week after holding Denver to a season-low 18 yards rushing. Against the pass, the Bolts have four interceptions and 21 passes defensed in the last three games. Finally, in regards to third down defense, they have given up just 9-of-30, including a 4-of-13 performance most recently. Without a doubt, Defensive Coordinator John Pagano and the entire defense deserve to be recognized for a trio of top-notch efforts in their most recent outings.
Q: Will the team know the outcome of the Dolphins and Ravens games before they play or will they ignore it?– Hasher Artoloia
A: The team will most definitely be aware of the outcome of the previous games. Head Coach Mike McCoy said he isn’t going to hide the results as the games will be on per usual in the locker room as the players arrive. But regardless of whether those two games go the Chargers way or not, it won’t have any effect on their performance. They are focusing on the only thing they can control, which is how they perform against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Q: Merry Christmas Ricky! Was wondering if you knew what some of the guys got for Christmas this year? – Tyson Stafford
A: Not sure about this year, but we did ask them recently for some of the best gifts they got as kids. Check out what they had to say:
Q: Will the Pro Bowl still be divided into AFC and NFC even though the teams will be mixed up? – Dave Watson
A: No, it no longer will be divided in any way. For instance, it will still be six quarterbacks in the game, but it won’t be divided into three from the AFC and three from the NFC. It will be the best six regardless of conference. The Pro Bowlers will be announced on Friday, but there is still time to give your favorite Chargers one last vote!
