After Bigby went down with a groin injury, Lynch was called in to replace him and he played admirably.
Lynch tied for the team-lead with 10 tackles, including eight solo tackles, and one tackle for loss.
His tackle for loss came on the second play of the second quarter, when he stopped Baltimore running back Bernard Pierce in the backfield for a one-yard loss.
The third quarter proved to be Lynch’s best 15 minutes of play, as he totaled five tackles.
But the stats meant nothing to Lynch after the game, only the result.
“I don’t really know what to think right now,” Lynch said. “You don’t want to be too emotional about the game, but we’ll watch film and see what happened. I really got no words right now. Tough game.”
But overall, Lynch believes the defense played well, despite the circumstances.
“I think we’re a level-headed defense,” he said. “We don’t get emotional when people go down. I thought we performed well for how many key injuries we had.”
Yet, Lynch would have preferred the win to the statistics.
“I don’t really care about my individual performance,” Lynch said. “This is a team sport. It’s not boxing or golf. We lost as a team. I thought we played okay, but just didn’t do enough to win. Individual performances don’t matter in a team sport I believe.”
In 11 games with the Chargers this season, Lynch has totaled 23 tackles. Lynch spent the previous three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after spending the 2008 season with the Cincinnati Bengals. His career-high for tackles in a season is 31, which he accomplished in 2010 with the Bucs.
In his five-year career, Lynch has 95 career tackles, 71 of which have been solo tackles.
