The second half has not been a friend to the San Diego Chargers during their current four-game losing streak.
For the second straight game and third in their last four, the Bolts scored three points or less in the second half, including being shutout the past two weeks by the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals. The lone exception came against the Denver Broncos three weeks ago, when the Chargers scored 16 second-half points.

“I think teams get a handle on who you are, what you’re doing and matchups,” Chargers head coach Norv Turner said. “We’ve seen people be much more aggressive with us in the second half. As I said, sometimes those problems you’re talking about come from an inability to protect and block and sometimes they come from guys getting covered. In this game, in the third quarter, I think we were doing everything we can not to make the big mistake and turn the ball over. We were backed up the first two or three times we had the ball, so there are a lot of things that go into it.”
Against Baltimore, the Chargers went three-and-out on four of its six possessions in the second half and in overtime. In San Diego’s seven possessions in the second half against Cincinnati, the Chargers went three-and-out three times and turned the ball over twice.
Still, the Chargers remain optimistic that their offense can turn things around get those key scores to close out games.
