King Dunlap, who spent the previous five seasons in Philadelphia prior to joining the Chargers, is a formidable 6-foot-9, 330-pound offensive tackle.
The 27-year old Dunlap appeared in 52 games for the Eagles dating back to 2009 and has made 19 starts. Last season was his best to date as he started 12 of the 14 games he played, predominantly at left tackle.
One of Dunlap’s major assets is his versatility. He is equally adept at playing both left and right tackle, and that flexibility is important as the offensive line is a position that often gets hit hard by injuries. In the past, Dunlap has also even played a bit of guard when needed, becoming one of the tallest NFL players to ever play that position according to Stats Inc. Being able to pencil him in anywhere along the offensive line when needed will be a big boon for Head Coach Mike McCoy.
