Another training camp injury suffered Thursday will force him to miss an extensive amount of time in 2013 as well.
Head coach Mike McCoy announced today that Mouton suffered a torn ACL midway through the opening practice of the season.
"Unfortunate news that happened yesterday here, Jonas Mouton tore his ACL," McCoy said. "We'll do the right thing and get him back healthy...It's just unfortunate. It's the bad part of the business. You see these players come in here and they work so hard in the offseason. They put a lot of time and effort into it, their entire life to playing the game, and it's an unfortunate thing. You feel so bad for the player."
Mouton was hoping for a rebound campaign after getting his feet wet in 2012. The Chargers drafted him in the second round in 2011 after a dominant collegiate career. He was the Big-Ten’s top tackler his senior year at Michigan with 117 tackles in 2010. Overall, he amassed 264 total tackles as a three-year starter for the Wolverines.
