It's Official - Novak to Kick on Sunday

Posted Sep 29, 2012

The Chargers made it official Saturday afternoon, signing Nick Novak to be their kicker for Sunday’s game at the Kansas City Chiefs.  The need for Novak arose after Nate Kaeding injured his groin during Friday’s practice. To make room on the roster, the team released guard/tackle Reggie Wells.

A San Diego native, Novak spent the majority of the 2011 season with the Chargers, making 27 of 34 attempts for a 79.4-percent conversion rate.  He connected from as far out as 53 yards on his way towards proving himself to be a reliant, valuable kicker in the NFL.  This preseason, Novak made two of three attempts with the Bolts, including the game-winning 45-yarder as time expired vs. the Minnesota Vikings.

Novak has made 46 of 64 field goals over a five year career with the Chargers, Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.
