Help Mathews Win FedEx Ground Player of Week

Posted Dec 30, 2013

After a career day, Ryan Mathews is nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

Ryan Mathews headed into the season with quite a few critics and he ended it by silencing them all.

By the end, they were singing his praises.

The fourth-year rusher turned in the eighth best season by a running back in Chargers history, rushing for 1,255 yards. That included a career-high 144 yard day on Sunday that has him nominated for this week’s FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Averaging exactly 6.0 yards per carry, Mathews punished the opponents on his way to his sixth 100-yard rushing day of the season.

Still, when asked how it felt to have a career day in what has been a career year, the running back was quick to credit his offensive line for making it all possible.

“It was fun out there, but I can’t take all the credit,” he said.  “The big guys up front, that’s what it is. You will have to ask them too how it feels. For me, it’s a good feeling.”

Be sure to vote Mathews for FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

Then, watch his 44-yard run below as well as hear from the man himself.
