The Chargers played perhaps their best game of the season, dominating the 10-3 Baltimore Ravens en route to a 34-14 victory before a national-television audience on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The Chargers scored on six of their eight offensive possessions and didn’t punt a single time against a Ravens defense that came into the game ranked third in the NFL. The Chargers scored on their first five offensive possessions, the first time an opponent had ever done that to Baltimore (254 total games). The Chargers blew open a 17-7 game at the half with 14 unanswered points in the third quarter en route to the victory which evened the team’s record at 7-7 and kept them alive in the AFC playoff race. San Diego’s defense recorded a season-high seven sacks. Following the game, Head Coach Norv Turner awarded game balls in the locker room to the team’s offensive and defensive lines, as well as Philip Rivers, Vincent Jackson and Ryan Mathews.

Mike Tolbert’s touchdown run on the Chargers’ first offensive possession, his 19th career rushing TD, tied him with Tim Spencer for 6th on the Chargers’ all-time list...Malcom Floyd’s nine-yard catch on a 3rd-and-8 helped sustain the drive...Floyd also set up the Chargers’ second quarter touchdown drive for a 17-7 lead with a 19- yard catch to the Ravens’ one.

Floyd’s 28-yard touchdown catch to open the third-quarter was helped by his 16-yard catch on a 3rd-and-8.

Nick Novak’s 45-yard second-quarter field goal was his 11th of the season of 40 yards or longer, most-ever in a season in team history.

Vincent Jackson’s 58-yard catch on 3rd-and-8 during a second quarter touchdown drive put him over 1,000 yards for the year, his third-career 1,000-yard season.

Ryan Mathews tied his season high with two rushing scores. Mathews rushed for 90 yards against the Ravens, giving him 1,033 for the year, his first 1,000-yard season.

Philip Rivers passed for 270 yards and went over 4,000 yards for the season on a 21-yard pass to Floyd that set up the touchdown that gave the Chargers a 31-7 lead over the Ravens...it was Rivers’ team-record fourth straight 4,000-yard campaign.

Rivers was 17 of 23 with a touchdown and no interceptions, extending his streak to four full games and 120 pass attempts without throwing an interception.

Antwan Barnes had a career-high four sacks, giving him 11 for the season. In his fifth NFL season, Barnes had a total of 9.5 for his career coming into 2011.

Takeo Spikes’ interception and 45-yard return in the third quarter led to Mathews’ second score of the night and a 31-7 lead.

Shaun Phillips had a late third-quarter interception and later tallied a half-sack to reach 60 for his career...Phillips became the 94th player in the NFL (since 1982) to reach 60.

Antoine Cason and Eric Weddle both had touchdown saving pass breakups near the end zone on the opening series of the game.

Corey Liuget helped close out the victory with his first-career sack late in the fourth quarter.

Quentin Jammer played in his 154th career game, tying John Hadl and Walt Sweeney for the 10th-most games played in team history.
