Full List of Chargers 2014 Transactions

Posted Oct 29, 2014

Your complete rundown of all the transactions made by the San Diego Chargers.

October 29 -  Two days after making a cornerback switch to the active roster, the Chargers made one on the practice squad.  The team added CB Kendall James and terminated CB Aaron Hester. James was a First Team All-CAA selection in 2013 playing for Maine and was selected this past June in the sixth round by the Minnesota Vikings.  He posted the third highest vertical jump for any CB at the scouting combine as his 39.0 vertical tied with Jason Verrett.  James most recently spent time on the Houston Texans' practice squad.

October 27 -  Returning from a weekend away from the facility after a Thursday night game, the Bolts made a cornerback change on Monday, signing CB Richard Crawford while releasing veteran CB Richard Marshall.  Crawford is a 5-11, 192-pounder formerly with the Washington Redskins.  He had a promising rookie season in 2012, but hasn't appeared in a regular season game since due to injury.  He replaces Marshall, who appeared in 24 games over two seasons in San Diego.

October  8 - San Diego began the morning adding CB Aaron Hester to the practice squad to replace CB Greg Ducre who was signed to the Washington Redskins active roster.  Hester is 6-1, 207-pounder out of UCLA most recently with the Detroit Lions.  He appeared in three preseason contests and recorded five tacklesHester initially entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos.

October 7 - It was another busy Tuesday at Chargers Park as the Chargers made six transactions, highlighted by signing center Trevor Robinson off the Cincinatti Bengals practice squad and re-signing running back Ronnie Brown.  They placed center Doug Legursky on IR and released LB Kevin Reddick.  The team also re-signed safety Adrian Phillips to the practice squad and placed DJ Adams on “Practice Squad – Injured”.

October 1 - The Chargers re-signed Chas Alecxhi to the practice squad and released Adrian Phillips. The switch comes only 48 hours after the team brought the safety out of Texas back to the fold in place of the Pitt DT.

September 29 – Following the win over Jacksonville, the team brought Adrian Phillips back to the practice squad less than a week after releasing the safety last Tuesday.  Defensive lineman Chas Alecxhi was released to free up the spot.

September 23 - One of the businest in-season days in recent memory ended with the Chargers making an incredible 10 player transactions. San Diego added three to the active roster in veteran RB Shaun Draughn, ILB Kevin Reddick and OLB Cordarro law while releasing DE Lawrence Guy and placing RB Danny Woodhead on season ending IR with a broken fibula.  The team released S Adrian Phillips from the practice squad and CB Marcus Cromartie from IR.  Law's promotion combined with Phillips release and RB Marion Grice signing with the Arizona Cardinals opened up three spots on the practice squad, and the Chargers filled them by adding RB DJ Adams, OLB Colton Underwood and TE David Paulson.

September 20 - Each NFL team is allowed to place one player on the "Reserve-Injured - Designated for Return list" per year, and less than 24 hours before kickoff in Buffalo, the Bolts used the designation on Melvin IngramThe third year linebacker is dealing with a hip injury, and the soonest he'll be allowed to return to game action is Week 11 against the Oakland Raiders.  San Diego did not use the tag in 2013 but did in 2012 on former WR Vincent Brown.

September 11 - With Nick Hardwick on IR, the Chargers added to their offensive line by signing Doug Legursky to improve their depth.  The burly interior lineman spent five seasons in Pittsburgh before joining the Bills in 2013.

September 10 -It was a sad day around Chargers Park as Nick Hardwick's neck injury forced the team to place one of the most popular players in franchise history on IR.  The veteran captain was a rock in the middle who has appeared in 136 games with the team.

September 6 - The team announced they waived Vincent Brown after reaching an injury settlement.

September 2 - One day after being waived, the Bolts brought running back Marion Grice back into the fold by signing him to their practice squad.

September 1 -The 53-man roster is a fluid entity that General Manager Tom Telesco and Head Coach Mike McCoy will always aim to improve.  To that end, the team tinkered with the defense by adding burly DT Ricardo Mathews and waiving RB Marion Grice.  The 6-0, 300-pound Mathews is a versatile two-way player that beefs up the defensive line.

August 31 - Less than 24 hours after announcing the 53-man roster, the Chargers began forming their practice squad.  Eight players who appeared with the team in the preseason made it including Javontee Herndon, Torrence Allen, Jeremiah Sirles, Craig Watts, Chas Alecxih, Cordarro Law, Greg Ducre and Adrian Phillips.  Meanwhile, former SDSU QB Ryan Lindley joined the squad after being released by the Arizona Cardinlas.

August 30 -The darkest day of the calander year ended with the Bolts trimming 22 players off the roster.  Most notable was WR Vincent Brown, who was waived-injured after suffering a calf injury early in training camp.  Others released included LB Victor Aiyewa, DT Chas Alecxih, WR Torrence Allen, CB Crezdon Butler, S Alden Darby, CB Greg Ducre, TE Michael Flacco, T Mike Harris, WR Javontee Herndon, OLB Thomas Keiser, DL Joe Kruger, OLB Cordarro Law, S Adrian Phillips, WR Tevin Reese, T Jeremiah Sirles, QB Brad Sorensen, OLB Colton Underwood, G Craig Watts, T Kenny Wiggins, C Khalil Wilkes and DL Doug Worthington.

August 26 -
San Diego announced a quintet of transactions in order to get down to the mandatory 75-man reduction.  They included placing CB Marcus Cromartie, DT Kwame Geathers and DE Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe on the Reserve-Injured list, Jeromey Clary on Reserve-PUP and released CB Brandon Ghee.

August 25 - It was a busy day as the Chargers began paring down the roster in advance of the mandatory reduction to 75 players.  The team waived T Nick Becton, FB Zach Boren, TE Jake Byrne, WR Brelan Chancellor, LB Adrian Hamilton, WR Micah Hatfield, G Darryl Johnson, TE Ryan Otten, DB Lowell Rose, P Chase Tenpenny and RB Kerwynn Williams.  They also added a player, claiming defensive lineman Joe Kruger off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles.

August 18 - The Bolts made a pair of moves revolving around the defensive line, signing Doug Worthington and waiving-injured Damik ScafeWorthington is a three-year vet most recently with the Washington Redskins capable of playing both tackle and end.  Scafe was felled by a hip injury.

August 9 - Alvin Scioneaux was waived-injured after suffering a torn ACL in the preseason opening win over the Dallas Cowboys.  The Chargers signed Victor Aiyewa to take his place.  Aiyewa is a 6-1, 219-pound linebacker who's spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Scioneaux was added to the Reserve/Injured list two days later.

August 1 - San Diego began training camp with 89 players, one short of the 90-man maximum allowed.  That changed on Friday when the Chargers added Lowell Rose.  The 6-1, 192-pound cornerback has been with both the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets, and was an honorable All-Big 12 selection at Tulsa in 2012.
