The day started out with the team releasing a pair of veterans as they aim to get younger and save salary cap space. The first player released was 33-year old tight end Randy McMichael, who spent the last three seasons with the Bolts. Later, the team released 33-year old defensive tackle Antonio Garay after four seasons with the club.
Shortly after free agency began at 1:00pm, the team announced they re-signed kicker ![]()
Finally, the Chargers claimed running back Foswhitt “Fozzy” Whittaker later in the afternoon. Whittaker spent the final two weeks of the 2012 season on Arizona’s practice squad while Chargers’ offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt was the Cardinals’ head coach.
