Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd had a big day vs. the Tennessee Titans, catching six passes for 109 yards with an 18.2 yard average en route to a 38-10 victory in today’s home opener.

“We just try to feed off of Philip (Rivers),” Floyd said. “Like I said you have just got to be at your route depth and be where you are supposed to be when he’s ready to throw it. He’s going to read the defense and pick them apart and whoever is open based on that particular defense, he’s going to hit you.”

Floyd started off the opening drive of the game with two catches of 27 and 14 yards and almost had a seven-yard touchdown catch in the back of the end zone on a play that was ruled incomplete. Head coach Norv Turner challenged the call, but there was not enough evidence to overturn it.

“We played together as a team,” Floyd said. “The defense got us an early turnover and we started off fast on that first drive. We were just quick. I wish that the ref would have reversed that call but it’s alright; it’s part of the game and we got the win.”

On the second Chargers drive of the third quarter, Floyd kept the chains moving with two receptions of 22 and 16 yards, which eventually led to tight end Dante Rosario’s third touchdown catch of the day.

“Dante (Rosario) got a hat trick (three touchdowns),” Floyd said. “That’s something that we wish for and it’s good because a lot of guys contributed.  We all contributed as a team to a win and it was nice to see guys step up with other guys being down so it felt really good.”

On the Bolts final touchdown drive, Floyd caught a short pass to the right and galloped 19 yards to put him over 100-yards receiving on the day.

“I’m not even sure how many catches or how many yards I got,” a humble Floyd said. “I just know that we got a win and everyone played together as a team and now it’s time to move on and get ready for Atlanta.”

For the record, he had 109 yards receiving, good enough for his eighth career 100-yard game.

“Malcom does this all the time,” said Rivers. “He’s not underappreciated on this team, but he’s one of the most unappreciated guys outside this locker room.  We’ve just got to keep him healthy.”
