Floyd Limited in Practice

Posted Oct 12, 2012

Malcom Floyd was a surprising addition to the Chargers injury report today when he was listed as limited with a groin ailment.  Fortunately, head coach Norv Turner expects both Floyd and Eddie Royal (hamstring) to be back on the field in no time and be ready to play Monday night vs. the Broncos.

“We were a little bit limited today, but I’m comfortable we’ll have our guys (back),” said Turner.

Floyd felt his groin act up early on in practice and realized it was better to rest rather than push himself and injure it.

“I felt it act strange a very little bit, but it’s not like I popped it,” he said. “It really isn’t a big deal.  I’ll be alright.”

The team’s leading receiver through the first five games of the season, the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder has caught 20 balls for 358 yards and one touchdown.  The Chargers receiving corps would look drastically different without him for Monday’s game, but it appears he isn’t in any danger of missing the match.

“I feel alright right now,” he said. “I’ll be fine come Monday.  I’ve seen (Head Athletic Trainer) James (Collins) already, and he’ll help me out and get me back quickly.  We all have a lot of faith in him. In my mind there’s no way I miss this game.”
