Chargers.com: First off how does it feel to be a San Diego Charger? What was that phone call like?
Carrethers: It feels great! It’s a dream come true. The general manager called me and asked if I would like to be a Charger. I was like “Yes! Of course!”
Chargers.com: For fans that may not have seen you play, what can they expect to see out of you?
Carrethers: A lot of production. I have great strength and I’ll hopefully be a great contributor with this team.
Chargers.com: Why is the Chargers version of the 3-4 defense a good fit for you?
Carrethers: I like being that big guy in the middle. It is an important job. Somebody has to do it and I want to take on that role. I think I fit well in their scheme. They know I’m a producer and they expect me to be one.
Chargers.com: If you had to name one part of your game you take pride in what would it be?
Carrethers: I think I can do everything. I take pride in it all. I’m not going to limit myself to one aspect.
Chargers.com: How familiar are you with the other defensive linemen on the Chargers
Carrethers: I’m very familiar with
Chargers.com: How much contact did you have with San Diego leading up to the draft?
Carrethers: I had a lot of contact with them at my pro day. They called me a couple times leading up to the draft, so it was somewhat frequent.
Chargers.com: A lot of fans on Twitter want to know if you have a chip on your shoulder being selected in the fifth round?
Carrethers: Oh yes! But at the end of the day I’m here to play football and that’s what I’m going to do.
Chargers.com: Finally, we’ve been asking all our draft choices to give a message to all the Chargers fans out there. What do you want to tell them?
Carrethers: Get ready, because we’re going to be the best we can be.
