The San Diego Chargers added another versatile weapon when they drafted Arizona State running back
Chargers.com: So what are your emotions like right now?
Grice: I feel great. I feel like the Chargers had a high level of interest in me all along. I’d spoken with them and had an informal interview with them at the Combine. So I know their interest in me has been pretty high.
Chargers.com: You suffered a leg injury toward the end of your time at Arizona State. How do you feel right now?
Grice: I’m 100%. I’m ready to go!
Chargers.com: How would you define your game?
Grice: I can run it but also come out of the backfield and catch passes. I can make a lot of plays and break a lot of tackles. And I am secure with the ball. But most importantly I’m an end zone guy. I find ways to get the ball into the end zone.
Chargers.com: How about special teams? You’ve had a lot of success as a returner in college.
Grice: I take a lot of pride in that. Special teams wins ballgames. Punt returns. Kick returns. I can do both.
Grice: I’m very excited to meet those guys and compete with them every day. I want to pick their brains and learn.
Chargers.com: How about taking handoffs and running routes for a Pro Bowler in
Grice: He’s one of the great quarterbacks in the game. I’m looking forward to that and catching balls from him too.
Chargers.com: Sometimes it is hard for a rookie to make an immediate impact. In what ways do you think you can make one in 2014?
Grice: I want to complement the guys we have and come off the bench to give them a breather. I can come in on third downs and make catches. I’m a playmaker. And I can help on special teams too as a returner.
Chargers.com: Lastly, what would you like to tell all the Chargers fans out there?
Grice: I plan on coming in and producing.
