It all began when Verrett arrived for the first time to his new home.
He immediately granted a 1-on-1 with Jordan Beane to describe the emotions of the past 12 hours.
Hours later, General Manager Tom Telesco introduced Verrett to the media. Here are five lessons we learned from the emotional press conference.
Once the draft got underway, it was déjà vu all over again. For the second consecutive year, Telesco traded the team’s second and fourth round picks to move up in the second round to grab a linebacker the team coveted. This time it was for Attaochu out of Georgia Tech. Moments after executing the trade and pick, the GM stepped outside the War Room to explain the decision.
A few minutes later, Attaochu called in to grant his first interview as he spoke passionately about being a Charger. Make sure to also check out Bolts Breakdown to hear Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Spanos' scouting report of the outside linebacker.
In the third round, the Chargers took their first offensive player of the draft in Notre Dame’s Watt. We got to know the guard in his first interview as a member of the Bolts while Telesco and Spanos explained what went into the pick.
At the end of the night, both Telesco and Head Coach Mike McCoy recapped the day.
