Daily Roundup: First Day with Pads On

Posted Jul 27, 2013

Here's your daily training camp roundup directly from Chargers Park.

For the first time in 2013, the San Diego Chargers put the pads on as they took the field for the third day of training camp.  Both head coach Mike McCoy and the entire team were excited about putting on all the gear, and here's your recap of all that occured.

If you weren't able to make it out to Chargers Park, you can find this gallery of the top photos of the day, and then watch the videos directly below of our practice snapshot and highlight plays of the day.

Among many storylines surrounding the Chargers is the addition of John Phillips, who is a steady force at tight end.

Back from injury, Eddie Royal has been very impressive as he aims for a rebound year. You can find a photo gallery of Royal right here.

Many fans are constantly asking about the state of the offensive line.  According to McCoy, the head coach has diligently been trying to find the right combination to compose his starting five.

For more from the day of practice, check out the videos below of McCoy, Nick Hardwick, Ryan Mathews and Chad Rinehart.

Returning to Chargers Park for training camp was LaDainian Tomlinson, although this time it was as a reporter for NFL Network. Read this blog entry about LT's day with the Bolts, which included speaking to the entire team after practice ended. Then, check out the one-on-one interview he conducted with Jordan Beane and see what he had to say during an impromptu media scrum.

Be sure to make it out tomorrow for what is supposed to be another padded practice and take part in our Ultimate Instagramer Contest and Instameet.

If you missed the first edition of Training Camp BoltsCast, check out our interview with Philip Rivers right here.

Finally, some housekeeping news, the Chargers intend to place Jonas Mouton on Injured Reserve once he clears waivers.

Now, you can stay in touch with the team anytime, anywhere, on your mobile device with the official app of the San Diego Chargers.
