D.J. Fluker Blog: This Team Rises to the Occasion

Posted Nov 6, 2013

This week's player blog comes courtesy of D.J. Fluker.

Last week was a tough loss, but I’m confident we will move on.  Our losses only last for 24 hours, just like when we win.  We have had great focus on the Denver Broncos this week.  We’re preparing for them to try to get that win on Sunday.  To me, this team rises to the occasion. It’s a big game, so we’re going to play hard.  It’s going to be a heavyweight fight.  It’s going to be a 15-round fight and we’re going to give it everything we’ve got.

I’m excited to be back home at Qualcomm because I love playing in front of our fans.  They mean a lot to me.  It means a lot to be out on that field.  They get me fired up every game.  I always go out with a mindset that I will not be denied.

We’re halfway through my rookie season, and personally, I feel great.  I’ve learned a lot as an offensive lineman and as a person.  I haven’t arrived totally yet though.  I’m still working to be the best offensive lineman in the league.  That’s my goal. So I’m going to listen to my coaches because they are great and they can make me great.  I love our coaches.  They encourage me and believe in me.  They like the passion I play with and how I get fired up.  I love being around Coach McCoy, Coach D’Alessandris, Coach Dees and all of the coaches.  They believe in me and I believe in them.

I also love this city. I’ve only been here for a couple months, but I love the people here.  They always want to take pictures with me and have nice things to say, and I appreciate that.  My favorite part of the city so far is probably Pacific Beach.  It’s very nice out there.  I like to have a good time at the beach then head over to the restaurants they have and chow down.

This is definitely a big game this week and we’re going to try to get that win for you guys.  I want to thank the fans for everything they do.  You cheer us on and believe in us, and I want you to know that means a lot to my teammates and me.

D.J.
