Chargers trade cornerback Antonio Cromartie, sending the four-year veteran to the New York Jets for a undisclosed 2011 draft choice.

As anticipated, the San Diego Chargers traded cornerback Antonio Cromartie, sending the four-year veteran to the New York Jets for a undisclosed 2011 draft choice.

Cromartie, 25, started 45 of 70 regular season and postseason games for the Chargers, contributing 15 interceptions. He was the Chargers’ first-round draft choice in 2006 (19th overall) out of Florida State. He turned in a Pro Bowl performance in 2007 with a league-high 10 interceptions, however he totaled just five interceptions over the past two years.

In a three-week span in 2007, Cromartie exploded on the NFL scene scoring two touchdowns by recovering an errant punt snap in the end zone and returning an interception 70 yards for a score. He also set an NFL record that will never be broken when he returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings.
