Congrats Keenan! Pepsi Next Rookie of Week

Posted Nov 29, 2013

For the second time this season, Keenan Allen was named the Pepsi Next Rookie of the Week.

For the second time this season, Keenan Allen has been named the Pepsi Next Rookie of the Week.

The third-round pick certainly deserved it for his strong performance against the Kansas City Chiefs.  Allen recorded nine receptions for 124 yards, including eight grabs for 104 yards in the first half alone.  In doing so, Allen posted his fourth 100-yard game of the season, setting a new club record for a rookie by surpassing John Jefferson's three games in 1978.

After learning he won the award, Allen was humble, saying he appreciated it but that his number one priority is helping the team win going forward.

“It’s pretty cool to win it again, I’ll take it,” he said with a smile.  “It’s fun.  But really I’m looking forward to this week and getting a win against the Cincinnati Bengals.”

To win the award, Allen bested fellow nominees Benny Cunningham of the St. Louis Rams, Mike Glennon of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Justin Hunter of the Tennessee Titans and Eddie Lacy of the Green Bay Packers.
