The San Diego Chargers announced today that they have signed wide receiver Marques Clark to the practice squad, replacing wide out ![]()
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder is a 28-year old rookie who most recently spent training camp with the New Orleans Saints, appearing in three preseason games. In two years of college ball, he recorded 91 catches for 1,456 yards and 11 touchdowns.
After graduating, Clark spent the last six years out of professional football, and most recently was the wide receivers coach for Westview High School here in his hometown of San Diego. He caught the eye of Drew Brees, who worked out at the school’s facility, and the Saints quarterback recommended to his team’s brass that they bring Clark in for a workout. Shortly after, he was signed to the 90-man training camp roster, but did not make the team’s final 53-man team.
Nonetheless, he showed enough during his stint in New Orleans to be called upon by the Chargers to join the team’s practice squad.
