The San Diego Chargers are set to announce that eight-year pro Luis Castillo is being released.
The team’s first round draft choice in 2005 out of Northwestern, Castillo played in 82 games with the Bolts over seven seasons. He boasts career totals of 276 tackles, including 43 for a loss, and 19 sacks. His top season came in 2006 when he was named a Pro Bowl second-alternate with 52 tackles and a career high seven sacks.
Castillo fractured his left tibia in 2011’s season opener and missed the remainder of the season.
