Chargers Offering New Food Items at Qualcomm

Posted Sep 6, 2013

This season there will be a number of new foot items at Qualcomm Stadium.

The San Diego Chargers, courtesy of their hospitality partner Centerplate, are offering a bevy of new, delicious food offerings for the 2013 season.

On Thursday, they invited select season subscribers as well as members of the Chargers front office and media to taste some of the new selections.

“Centerplate has been a great partner for the Chargers,” said Chargers Executive Vice President & CEO A.G. Spanos. “Every year they challenge themselves to get better and create a better offering for our fans.  As you can see from the food items out here, they’ve done a great job of getting creative and bringing unique items to Qualcomm Stadium this year.”

Some of the items available for tasting included The new Metro Deli, located in Club Lounge 12 , featuring a variety of “all natural” meats, BBQ brisket and pork from the new San Diego Smokehouse, chicken tenders and bratwurst from The Natural, an all-new opportunity introducing the first all-natural concession stand in San Diego as well as mahi-fish tacos, pork nachos, bacon cheeseburgers, garlic fries and liquid-nitrogen ice cream.

“First of all, I’m most excited about the experience we’re hoping to bring to the fans nowadays,” said Centerplate CEO Ron Lee. “We’re really trying to give Chargers fans something to be proud of here, not just on the field but off the field with their hospitality offerings.  Overall I think the fans are really going to notice the much improved quality of products that we’re serving here.”

The reviews on Thursday were overwhelmingly positive.

“This jerk chicken is hitting the spot,” said Andrew, who has gone to games since the 1990s. “I recommend it.  I’m working my way around but so far this is the winner.”

He wasn’t the only fan impressed by the offering.

“Oh the bratwurst is great,” said Bill, a 14-year season ticket holder. “It’s all good, but I like the bratwurst the best.  It’s wonderful.”

As for me?  I say try the BBQ brisket sandwich….with a side of garlic fries of course!
