Chargers Claim Lawrence Guy; Release Jarius Wynn

Posted Oct 8, 2013

The San Diego Chargers have claimed defensive end Lawrence Guy off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts.

The San Diego Chargers have claimed defensive end Lawrence Guy off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts and released Jarius Wynn.

The 6-4, 318-pound Guy played the last two seasons for the Colts, appearing in 11 games and recording 22 tackles and one sack.  He played a significant role in Indianapolis’ win last week against the Seattle Seahawks when he blocked a field goal that the team returned for a touchdown.  Guy was originally a seventh round draft choice (233rd overall) by the Green Bay Packers in 2011.

In other news, the team added tight end Ryan Otten to the practice squad after the Houston Texans signed Jake Byrne to their active roster.  Otten is a 6-6, 241-pound rookie out of San Jose State who finished his collegiate career with 126 receptions for 1,760 yards and 12 TDs, the most in school history by a tight end.
