The team traded a 2015 conditional seventh-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for defensive tackle Sean Lissemore, and claimed defensive lineman Drake Nevis from the Indianapolis Colts and linebacker Terrell Manning from the Green Bay Packers.

To make room on the roster, the team released inside linebacker D.J. Smith and defensive end Brandon Moore, and placed defensive end Damik Scafe on Reserve-Injured.

The Chargers also agreed to a contract with former Arizona Cardinal linebacker and special teams standout Reggie Walker.

Three players were signed to the team’s practice squad as well: tackle Nick Becton, linebacker Thomas Keiser and cornerback Marcus Cromartie.

Lissemore was the Cowboys’ seventh-round selection (234th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft.  Playing both the defensive end and nose tackle position in Dallas’ 3-4 defensive scheme, he appeared in 28 games over his first three seasons, collecting 66 tackles and 3.5 sacks.  The 6-3, 303-pound William & Mary product started two of the four games he played in this preseason.

Nevis was the Colts’ third-round selection (87th overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft while Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco was in Indianapolis.  The 6-1, 310-pound LSU product appeared in 14 games over his first two NFL seasons, registering 35 tackles and one sack.   Nevis appeared in four games this preseason, collecting eight tackles and two sacks.

Manning was drafted in the fifth round (163rd overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft after the Packers traded up to select the 6-2, 237-pound alum of North Carolina State.  The linebacker played in five games last season, recording three tackles.  Manning dealt with injuries his rookie year, beginning with a digestive illness in training camp that saw him lose significant weight before suffering head and shoulder injuries during the season.  In four games this preseason, he totaled 11 tackles and one pass defensed.

Walker spent his first four NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals under Chargers Offensive Coordinator Ken Whisenhunt and Special Teams coordinator Kevin Spencer. He has appeared in 48 games registering 44 tackles.  A special teams standout, he served as the unit’s captain in 2012. The 6-0, 244-pounder initially signed as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas State in 2009.  In four games this preseason Walker recorded six tackles with one pass defensed.
