Chargers - Chiefs Total Recap: Playoff Bound!

Posted Dec 29, 2013

All the articles, videos, highlights and exclusive access from the Chargers 27-24 victory.

The San Diego Chargers are in the playoffs!

It was a wild and emotional day at Qualcomm Stadium as the Bolts learned before taking the field that they would make the postseason with a win.  And win they did with a come from behind 27-24 overtime victory.  Below you will find all the articles, videos, highlights and behind the scenes access from the impressive win.

First up, check out the complete game highlights from the victory.

When all is said and done, Chargers fans will long remember this game as it was an ending for the ages.  From surviving a field goal attempt in the closing seconds of regulation to a fake punt in overtime and much more, it is surely a game that will go down in team lore.   Watch Ryan Succop’s missed field goal right here.

Speaking of the fake punt, Eric Weddle’s audible on 4th-and-2 from his own 28 early in overtime is arguably one of the gutsiest calls in team history.  Read about it right here, then watch it below as well as hear from the man who pulled off the gritty two-yard run.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Bolts once again benefited from a monster game by Ryan Mathews.   He averaged a gaudy 6.0 yards per carry, totaling 144 yards on 24 attempts.  That brought his season total to 1,255 yards, the eighth best mark in franchise history.  Watch one of his best runs from the game below, then hear from Mathews as well.

Another prominent member of the offense is Keenan Allen, who made history in the victory.  With five catches for 89 yards, he set a franchise rookie record for receiving yards with 1,046. He also became the first NFL rookie to top 1,000 yards since A.J. Green in 2011.  Read all about Allen entering the Bolts record books, then watch his signature play from the game.
