Chargers - Broncos Pregame Report

Posted Oct 15, 2012

The San Diego Chargers (3-2) host Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos (2-3) tonight on “Monday Night Football” in a battle for first place in the AFC West. San Diego will be wearing their powder blue uniforms for the first time this season.

The Chargers, coming off a 31-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints last week, own a 2-0 record against divisional opponents this season, defeating the Oakland Raiders 22-14 in Week 1 and the Kansas City Chiefs 37-20 in Week 4.

The Broncos, on the other hand, sit at 2-3 on the season after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-19 in Week 1.  They then lost three of their next four games to the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans and New England Patriots.

Inactive for the Bolts tonight are kicker Nate Kaeding, strong safety Brandon Taylor, cornerback Shareece Wright, inside linebacker Jonas Mouton, defensive tackle Antonio Garay, offensive tackle Jared Gaither and tight end Ladarius Green.

Tonight’s matchup will serve as the team’s breast cancer awareness game. Players will wear pink gloves and cleats in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All fans attending the game will receive pink ribbons and information cards from members of Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) sorority and a breast cancer awareness car magnet, presented by UC San Diego Health System.

At halftime, PGA Tour star and San Diego native Phil Mickelson will attempt a $1 million “KPMG Chip4Charity” shot. The shot will raise as much as $1 million for First Book, a non-profit organization who provides new books for children in need.

Now, you can stay in touch with the team anytime, anywhere, on your mobile device with the official app of the San Diego Chargers.
