Bolts Host Special Event for 1st Year Season Ticket Holders

Posted Nov 20, 2013

The San Diego Chargers held a special event for rookie season ticket holders on Monday.

The rookies invaded Qualcomm Stadium Tuesday night.

D.J. Fluker, Manti Te’o, Tourek Williams and Jahleel Addae, as well as General Manager Tom Telesco, were in attendance.  But we’re not just talking about the Chargers’ rookies.

We’re talking about over 600 first-year season ticket holders who hit the field for a special, one-of-a-kind event.  They got the chance to mingle with the rookies, pose for photos with them and get autographs.  They also met some notable alumni including Hank Bauer and Dave Binn, and heard a special address from the general manager.

“I think events like this are great,” said Telesco.  “Like I told them, these are all people that when I was hired and when (Head Coach) Mike (McCoy) was hired, they jumped on and believed in us before we even played a game yet.  That’s pretty cool.  So I wanted to come out and thank them for all their support this year because it means a lot to us.”

Telesco was far from the only Charger who relished the opportunity to meet with some of the team’s most ardent supporters.

“This feels great to see people come so far from places like Los Angeles, Kansas, the Bay area and lots of places to root for us,” said Fluker. “I’m glad to be here to meet some new people, shake their hands, sign autographs and have the chance to interact with our fans.  It feels great.”

The event was just one of many perks that come along with being a San Diego Chargers season ticket holder.  As such, those in attendance said the experience is one they’ll never forget.

“This is a great opportunity to meet the guys we’ve been watching all season,” said new season ticket holder Michael Owen. “Meeting a guy like Te’o was a dream come true.  I followed him all through college.  I had no idea we’d be able to do things like this when I bought season tickets.  There have been a number of events that unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it to.  But I was lucky enough to be able to come to this one, and they rolled out the red carpet. It’s definitely something that makes me want to be a season ticket holder for a long time.”

The Bolts return to Qualcomm Stadium on Dec. 1 for the first of four home games in the month of December when they take on Andy Dalton, A.J. Green and the AFC North leading Cincinnati Bengals.  Make sure you are here to cheer on the Chargers.  Click here to purchase!
