Bolts Announce Trio of Moves

Posted Nov 6, 2012

The Chargers announced a number of moves today, as injured offensive linemen Johnnie Troutman and Brandyn Dombrowski have been designated as “Returned to Practice” while Logan Harrell rejoined the Practice Squad in place of Charlie Bryant.  This was the last day for clubs to start the 21-day practice window for players on Reserve/PUP or Reserve/NFI.

The team’s fifth round draft choice this year out of Penn State, Troutman is an imposing 6-foot-4, 330-pound guard. He started the last three seasons for the Nittany Lions without allowing a sack and was a 2011 All-Big Ten honorable mention selection.  He injured his pectoral prior to the draft and underwent successful surgery in April.  The injury caused his stock to drop in the draft, but the Chargers saw enough potential in him to still select him in the fifth round.  Troutman is now eligible to practice for the next 21 days before a decision needs to be made to activate him or not.   Troutman is expected to practice with the Chargers for the first time on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Dombrowski has missed the entire season with a foot injury.  The versatile 6-foot-5, 323-pounder is in his fifth season with the Chargers and has suited up at right guard, right tackle and left tackle.  He’s started 16 games in his career, including one post-season game.  Like Troutman, the team can evaluate him over the next 21 days before having to decide whether to activate him or have him remain on the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list.  Troutman and Dombrowski may be activated at any time during the 21-day window.

Regarding the Practice Squad, Harrell is a 6-foot-2, 280-pound rookie defensive end out of Fresno State who was released last week to make room for Tori Gurley.  He replaces Bryant, an offensive lineman who has spent the last two seasons on the practice squad.
