The San Diego Chargers have been hit hard by injuries to the defensive line since training camp began. Yesterday, Kwame Geathers and Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe became the most recent Bolts to go down injured.
On Monday, General Manager Tom Telesco reinforced the positon by claiming defensive lineman Joe Kruger off waivers from Philadelphia. The 6-6, 290-pounder was initially a seventh-round selection of the Eagles in 2013 out of Utah. He played in 37 games collegiately, recording 69 tackles, 9.0 sacks, 14 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles and one interception. Kruger missed all of last season after being placed on the Reserve-Injured list in late August. The newest Charger is the younger brother of Cleveland Browns outside linebacker Paul Kruger.
After waiving 11 players earlier in the day, San Diego’s roster now stands at 80. They will need to part ways with five more players tomorrow in order to comply with league rules.
