BLOG: Four Bolts Linebackers in AFC West Top 10

Posted Jun 24, 2013

According to ESPN.com, four San Diego Chargers linebackers are ranked in the top 10 in the AFC West.

Following up last week’s rankings of the top defensive linemen in the AFC West, ESPN.com today ranked the top linebackers in the division.

I’m happy to report that four Chargers ranked in the top 10.

Here they are, accompanied by what ESPN’s Bill Williamson had to say about them.

“5. Donald Butler: He is flashing big-time skills. The Chargers need to re-sign him.

6. Dwight Freeney: The Chargers hope he can still be a sack master.

8. Jarret Johnson: Hard-nosed player who fits the defense well.

10. Manti Te'o: Chargers expect instant production from this instinctive rookie.”

In addition, D.J. Smith came in 14th, with Williamson calling him a steal for the Bolts, while Larry English ranked 21st.  Williamson also noted that had he been healthy, Melvin Ingram would have ranked eighth on the list.
