Back in April, general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Mike McCoy threw out the first pitch before a San Diego Padres game.
On Thursday, the Chargers returned the favor, hosting Padres General Manager Josh Byrnes, Manager Bud Black and Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations Omar Minaya at training camp.
Over their first few months in charge of the Chargers, Telesco and McCoy have struck up a friendship with Byrnes and Black. As such, inviting them to practice was a no brainer.
“They are a good group of guys,” said McCoy. “We had a lot of fun today. We went out to the home opener with Buddy and Josh and everybody else in the organization and had a good time. We always told them, ‘Listen, come out whenever you want.’ So it’s a good group of guys and we’re here to help each other and support each other. It’s a great town, a good sports town and everything, and we’re both trying to build winners here and good things.”
Following practice, Black met with our own Jordan Beane. Watch the video below to hear what he had to say.
