Atari Bigby Placed on IR; Bront Bird Brought Back

Posted Nov 27, 2012

The Chargers made a handful of moves this afternoon, placing Atari Bigby on Injured Reserve and re-signing linebacker Bront Bird.

Bigby injured his groin in the first half of Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.  A seven-year veteran in his first season with the Bolts, the 5-foot-11, 215-pound safety ranked second on the team with 68 tackles.

Taking his place on the active roster is Bird, who spent last season with the Chargers.  The 6-foot-4, 250-pound inside linebacker played in nine games in 2011, recording seven tackles.  Initially signed as an undrafted free agent, Bird was one of the final players released by the team on final cut-down day.

The Chargers made an additional move as well, signing Sean Cattouse to the practice squad.  The 6-foot-2, 210-pound free safety out of California spent training camp with the team and was also one of the last players not to make the squad.  Cattouse occupies the vacant spot on the practice squad the Chargers had after bringing Kevin Haslam up to the active roster over the weekend.
