Alexander Starting For Meachem

Posted Nov 11, 2012

The Chargers will make a change at wide receiver today as Danario Alexander will get the starting assignment alongside Malcom Floyd in place of Robert Meachem.

Alexander had an impressive performance in the Chargers’ last game against the Chiefs, leading the team with three catches for 61 yards.  He had a crucial catch on third down early in the game for a gain of 30 yards. A big, physical target at 6-foot-5, 217-pounds, Alexander has quickly developed a rapport with Philip Rivers strong enough to give him the starting nod. He signed with the team on October 22 after being released by the St. Louis Rams with a leg injury.

Meachem missed last week’s game with a hamstring injury, but is healthy.  He will still be a part of the offense and will be used, though his role appears to be reduced in place of Alexander. For the season, Meachem has 12 catches for 189 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
