Going into Week 16 of the regular season (and the championship game for many fantasy football leagues), the Chargers are ranked fourth in the NFL in total points, averaging just over 26 per game. Here is what notable fantasy experts are saying about the Bolts as they head to Cleveland:
Philip Rivers: Coming off yet another multi-touchdown performance (his seventh straight), Rivers is tied for the most touchdown passes in the past four weeks, having tossed nine in that span. Experts are saying to trust Rivers this championship weekend as he is listed as a starter on NFL.com and CBS.com as well as being listed by ESPN’s Matthew Berry as a “love.” Jamey Eisenberg of CBS.com said this, “11-of-14 quarterbacks against Cleveland have scored at least 20 Fantasy points.” Rivers is on average going for $7,550 in daily fantasy leagues.
San Diego Chargers Defense: The Chargers defense leads the league in interceptions and is the only team to record a takeaway in every game this season. They are facing a Browns team that has turned the ball over 21 times this year (11th most in the NFL) as well as allowed the most sacks (53). The Bolts defense is ranked by most experts as a top-six play and they are listed by NFL.com, CBS.com and ESPN.com as a “starter” or “love” this week. The most ringing endorsement came from Michael Fabiano of NFL.com saying, “Do yourself a favor and start the Chargers defense this holiday weekend, as the decision should help win you the gift of a fantasy championship. That's due in large part to a matchup versus the Browns, as opposing defenses have averaged almost 14 fantasy points a game against them. Bolt for the wire now to grab San Diego.” The Bolts defense is on average going for $4,150 in daily fantasy leagues.
Kenneth Farrow: Farrow he is facing a defense that has given up the second most fantasy points to running backs this year. The rookie is listed by CBS.com as a “sleeper” option this week and ESPN.com lists him a “building block” for daily fantasy lineups saying, “He’s now had 39 combined rushes/receptions over the past two weeks and is the Chargers bell cow ball carrier. That is a highly valuable asset to have against a Browns defense that allowed 40 rushes for 280 yards and three touchdowns against the Bills last week.” Farrow is on average going for $5,550 in daily fantasy leagues.
Dontrelle Inman: Inman has led the Chargers in targets, receptions and receiving yards the past two games. That has not gone unnoticed by fantasy pundits as he is listed as a starter by NFL.com and a “sleeper” by Jamey Eisenberg of CBS.com who says, “Don't be concerned with last week's stat line when he had just five catches for 68 yards. He still had eight targets and will continue to be a go-to option for Rivers. Inman remains a solid No. 3 Fantasy receiver in all leagues with upside against the Browns this week, and he scored in three of his past four games.” Inman is on average going for $5,800 in daily fantasy leagues.
Antonio Gates and Hunter Henry: Considered one of the best tight end combinations in the NFL, the rookie and future Hall of Famer have combined for 12 touchdowns this year. Some experts favor Henry this week as he has the hot hand, having scored in each of the past two games. Meanwhile, other experts think it is Gates’ turn as he hasn’t scored since Week 10. Jamey Eisenberg of CBS.com likes them both this week saying “The Browns lead the NFL with the most Fantasy points allowed to tight ends and the most touchdowns with 12. Nine tight ends have scored at least seven fantasy points in a standard league against Cleveland. There have been two times this year where Gates and Henry have scored in the same week. This could easily be three given the matchup, and Gates and Henry are both worth trusting as No. 1 options in Week 16.” Gates is on average going for $4,900 and Henry is on average going for $4,450 in daily fantasy leagues.
Good luck to everyone and have a cheerful Holiday weekend!
