The Right Combination in Each Win

At the bye, we are recapping the right combination for each Chargers win so far this season, highlighting key performances from the game.

Week 2 vs. Jacksonville – In the home opener of the season, the Chargers donned their "White Hot" uniforms and beat the visiting Jaguars 38-14. The catalyst for the win was Philip Rivers' connection with wide receiver Travis Benjamin, who caught six passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

Week 6 vs. Denver – In the national spotlight on Thursday Night Football, the Chargers wore their new royal blue color rush uniforms and beat the visiting Broncos 21-13. In the game, Rivers cultivated a new receiver, rookie tight end Hunter Henry. Rivers passed to him early and often as the rookie finished with six catches for 84 yards a touchdown. Also, in the second quarter Rivers passed Dan Fouts to become the Chargers' all-time leader in passing yards.

Week 7 vs. Atlanta – In one of the best NFL games this season, the Chargers outlasted the Falcons to win 33-30 in an overtime thriller. In what was a shootout, the standout performance came from a defensive player: Denzel Perryman who came up with two standout plays to get the win. First, he intercepted Atlanta's Matt Ryan on the Falcons final possession of regulation to set up Josh Lambo's game-tying field goal. Then in overtime, Perryman tackled Davonta Freeman in the backfield when the Falcons went for it on fourth-and-one to force a turnover on downs. The Chargers won the game on a field goal a few plays later.

Week 9 vs. Tennessee –In a 43-35 win over the visiting Titans, Melvin Gordon put forth one of the most dominant games ever by a Chargers running back with combined excellence on the ground and in the air. Gordon finished the day with 261 yards from scrimmage, a whopping 196 of which was from rushing. While he ran all over the Titans throughout the game, Gordon sealed the victory with a back-breaking 47 yard run on a crucial third down during what would become the final drive of the game.
