Joey Bosa was set to announce the Chargers fourth round pick at Qualcomm Stadium this morning.
As he took the stage, there was one name in particular he was hoping to see on the card.
He got his wish.
With the 102nd pick in the fourth round, the Chargers drafted Bosa’s Ohio State teammate, Joshua Perry.
Bosa made no bones about it; he believes the Bolts got an absolute steal in the inside linebacker.
“He’s one of the hardest workers I know,” Bosa said. “An amazing leader. A physical freak. He’s a big, huge guy at the linebacker position and helped our defense tremendously over the past three years. He’ll do that here in San Diego. It’s a steal for sure to get him in the fourth round. I thought he was a first round talent. It’s tough to go in the first round obviously, but he has that talent. To pick him up in the fourth round is awesome.”
Perry was a first team All-Big Ten selection last season as he amassed 105 tackles, 7.5 for loss and three sacks. While Bosa is a fan of what the inside linebacker brings to the table, he also knows being reunited will help both players adjust to the NFL.
“To have a familiar face around will be nice and make the transition that much easier,” Bosa said. “I was hopeful when he was still on the board we’d get him. He’s a great guy on and off the field, and is a great leader. It’s awesome to be with him, and more importantly he’s an amazing player. To have a guy like that on the team is huge.” Read
