The San Diego Chargers signed guard Michael Ola to the active roster from the practice squad and placed defensive end Darius Philon on “Reserve-Injured” with a designation to return, the team announced Saturday.
Ola is a 6-4, 327-pound second-year player from Hampton University who wears No. 70. He spent Weeks 1-3 and Week 5 on the team’s practice squad and was activated for the Bolts’ Week 4 game versus Cleveland. He saw action as a reserve on the offensive line, briefly seeing time for D.J. Fluker at right guard.
Philon saw action in the Chargers’ first four games, but was inactive for last Monday night’s game versus Pittsburgh with hip and thigh injuries.
Teams are allowed to place one player per season on the Reserve-Injured list with a designation to return. Per League rules, Philon will be eligible to return to practice in six weeks and he will be eligible to return to the active roster in eight weeks.
