“It was preseason; these are real games. I don’t know what everyone was expecting, but hopefully we can get it turned up. We are where we are right now, and we have to get it better.”
“There are way too many. There are way too many penalties in the kicking game and as an entire group we need to eliminate those things because it puts the offense in a bad position. You get a good return and then all of a sudden we are backed up inside the 10 again. We have to eliminate those things. Players must understand the rules and how they can do certain things.”
“He had a bounce back week and made some big plays. (He) got us a touchdown to get us to 10-7 before the half and then he just kept fighting the whole day.”
“We have a long way to go. We’ve been 1-2 before and won double digits. I’m making no predictions but there’s a lot of football left.”
In the same vein, rookie Melvin Gordon emphasized how there is no panic going on at Chargers Park:
“It’s 1-2 and we all hate losing, but mentally we have to be strong because it’s not the end of the season. It’s still early. You never know what can happen by the end of the season, so we have to be strong mentally and physically…It’s tough, but I believe we can get it done and we will. We have to win on the road and that’s what good teams do, and I feel like we’re a great team. We just have to put the pieces of the puzzle together and once we start clicking we’ll be great.” Read
