Attaochu Blog: "I Wake Up Happy to be a Charger Every Day"
The following was submitted by rookie outside linebacker Jerry Attaochu.
We have a big game this Sunday that I’m really excited about because the 49ers are a great team, and San Francisco is a great city to play in. They have a really good team, so I’m looking forward to facing Colin Kaepernick, Frank Gore and the rest of that offense. This is what you play the game for. I’ve watched these guys for so long, so just being on the same field as them is exciting.
So far my NFL experience has definitely been everything I expected it to be as far as the time you put into it and the work that is necessary. Some of the guys I’ve learned a lot from are Jarret Johnson, Eric Weddle and, of course, Dwight Freeney. Really all my teammates have taken me under their wing right from day one. I’ve learned a lot about what type of work ethic you need to put in every day. Their leadership is real good because no one is trying to put anyone down. So we have a great locker room.
I feel my performance in the first two preseason games was good, but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement. And really what the preseason is for is getting your feet under you. But I have lot of room to grow. This is the first non-training camp week and there are a bunch of differences like having the media in the locker room, but the work we put in is still the same.
Right now there isn’t much free time, but when I do get some I take time for myself. I like to go to church every Sunday. Besides that I relax, chill and watch TV. I cook and go shopping a lot because I’m big into fashion. Really, I wake up happy every day that I’m in San Diego and get to be a Charger. The sun is shining here so it’s fun to get to work every day, and having the type of teammates and coaches I have is a blessing.
Thanks for letting me share my thoughts through this blog. I look forward to doing it again. You fans have welcomed me to San Diego Throughout training camp the support was strong, and hopefully it’s the same way come the regular season.
