The San Diego Chargers signed running back Branden Oliver to a three-year contract on Wednesday.
The 5-8, 203-pound Oliver ran 310 times for 1,535 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior in 2013. He became the Buffalo Bulls all-time leading rusher in the process, finishing his career with 866 carries for 4,049 yards and 33 touchdowns. A two-time first team All-MAC selection, he was named the conference's offensive player of the week three times last year. Fans may be most familiar with him as Buffalo faced San Diego State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. While the Aztecs came out on top, he gave them fits averaging 4.1 yards per carry for 114 yards in addition to three catches for 22 yards and a touchdown.
To make room on the roster, the team waived tackle Ian White and waived-injured wide receiver Tobais Palmer. If he clears waivers, the team will place Palmer on the “Reserve-Injured” list.
