There are plenty of benefits that come with being a Chargers Season Ticket Member, including exclusive access to the team you can’t find anywhere else. This integral group of fans is vitally important to the success of the organization, and as such, the Bolts look to reward them whenever they can.
One of the most unique ways has been to annually award a trip for two to the Super Bowl. This year, 21-year Season Ticket Member Michael Enge was selected to attend. The experience proved to be one he and his son will remember for the rest of their lives.
Upon returning from the Super Bowl, Enge wrote the Chargers a letter to show his appreciation. Check out what he had to say below, then click here to learn how you can become a Season Ticket Member.
Dear Dean Spanos, A. G. Spanos and the entire San Diego Chargers organization:
Winning the Super Bowl trip to New York was memorable for a father and his son.
The anticipation of the once in a lifetime Super Bowl trip started for us back in May 2013, when the San Diego Chargers announced that we had won their season ticket member sweepstakes grand prize. We just enjoyed our 21st year of season tickets together and the memories of our first Super Bowl experience 19 years earlier.
The excitement level brewed all season and even greater during the remarkable run of the last month of the Chargers’ season. The final remaining two weeks found the Chargers needing some help from other organizations, and after the stars seemed to align, the team was off to a playoff game in Cincinnati and performed triumphantly. The team fell short of its goal one week later in Denver, but our enthusiasm will carry on to the upcoming season.
Super Bowl XLVIII finally arrived and during the cross country fight from San Diego to NYC, we both realized how special this experience would turn out to be for a father and his son. We entered the Big Apple as loyal Chargers ambassadors. Welcomed by the crisp February night, Times Square was alive with NFL fans covering every corner. The towering skyscrapers loomed over everyone as they enjoyed the Super Bowl festivities on the streets of mid-town Manhattan.
Some of the highlights of our stay included visiting the 911 Memorial (very emotional), Wall Street and Rockefeller Center with a 360 degree view of the city. We also visited the East Village, Union Square, Harold Square and Bryant Park. We treated ourselves to some great restaurants and absorbed as much local flavor as we could. The host city exceeded expectation in every way. The entire team of city volunteers and the NYPD played an informative and pivotal role to all NYC visitors. Every landmark and NYC attraction was blanketed by football fanatics representing all 32 teams. Restaurants and subway trains were filled with the Super Bowl buzz.
The Super Bowl experience is second to none. We had field level seats with fantastic views of the entire field and the half time entertainment. We enjoyed being with fans from every team in the league as well as fans from all over the world. The game had everything a fan can ask for - scoring, hard hits and plenty of action.
This trip was the ultimate benefit of being a Charger season ticket member. The other benefits include the season ticket member only access to practice, players, and other trips and gifts. Being a season ticket member also allows me to attend all games with my son and friends cheering on the Chargers.
We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the Super Bowl made more memorable because this father and son were able to do it together.
Special thanks go to Todd Poulsen, Shirley Weinmann and Barbie Hendrix.
Again we can't thank you enough for this trip of a lifetime.
Mike and Joe Enge
