One of the stars of the game was Keenan Allen, who scored the first two touchdowns of the day for the Bolts. In the process, he set a franchise record for receptions by a rookie with 61. Other stars on offense included the formidable duo of Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead. Mathews ran a career-high 29 times for 103 yards and a touchdown while Woodhead carried it seven times for 42 yards. In the air, Mathews had three catches for 32 yards while Woodhead had a team-high four catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. The score was the eighth of the year for Woodhead, which set a new career high for him. All year long, Head Coach Mike McCoy has spoken about the need to play complementary football. The Bolts played that brand of football as the offense, defense and special teams all fed off each other.
Another key factor leading to the win? A loud and rowdy supportive home crowd at the Q. While there were plenty of heroes to go around, many Chargers spoke to the fact that the Chargers fans played a role in the victory.
