Ronnie Brown Blog: "This Game is About the Chargers"
I spent the majority of my career with the Miami Dolphins, so a lot of people have been asking me about going against my former team. But really, this game is about the Chargers. I’m excited because as a team, this is our next opportunity to get us to 5-5. We’re trying to move closer to our goal of getting into the playoffs. The Dolphins are the first team. I played with in the NFL and they gave me my first opportunity at this level to fulfill my dream, but that was so long ago that now I appreciate being with the Chargers. So I’m looking forward to heading down there and trying to get this win.
I think we have a lot of potential, but the only thing good about potential is when you put it into action. We need to convert that potential into game situations and be able to play to the best of our ability. I like the way we play when we’re capable of playing, but at the same time, we’ve got to do that more consistently in games from week to week. I think we have the right personnel and the right people to do it, now we just have to go out and do it.
One thing I’ve really enjoyed this year has been being a part of this running back group. I really like the way we’re built. We all offer something different. We all get along; we’re like brothers in the room. We like to joke around, but at the same time when we get out there, we make sure everyone is doing his part and helping this team win. I think we’re all excited when we get in to help the team, so it’s real good.
It’s funny, a lot of people have talked about that leap I had on third down last game over Le’Ron. Really, I was just trying to get the first down. We had a big emphasis last week on converting on third down, and that was a situation where it was 3rd-and-1 and I knew we needed a first down. I didn’t really think about it, I just ended up jumping and tried to do whatever I could to get the first down. Fortunately I was able to get over Le’Ron!
I’d like to thank the fans for their support. I know we’ve been up and down this season, but I appreciate their support. It might not be said a lot, but as a football team and an organization, we appreciate them coming out and being a part of us and the city.
