So far my second year has gone better than I expected. It’s going really well. I’m learning a lot more and feeling more comfortable running routes. And I’m learning a ton from Antonio Gates so you can’t go wrong there. The things I worked on most in the offseason were my blocking and my route running because they were the biggest issues last year. I had to gain a little bit of weight to hold up more on the line, and route running is always important to get open.
It feels really good to have scored two touchdowns so far this preseason. It was important for me because it’s a confidence booster. When you score you feel like you’re doing stuff right. It shows that you’re working hard, and it also makes my parents happy. They’re always happy when I score.
It’s important for me to play a role in the offense this year because I just want to make an impact. I want to help the team anyway I can. Even if that means not on offense but on special teams, I want to help the team win. So far I’ve gotten great support from the coaches and my teammates. To know that the quarterbacks trust me to throw me the ball and the coaches trust me to put me out there means a lot.
Many ask me why I have the nickname Pee Wee. That’s because I was short in high school. In basketball I was a point guard, but then I blew up over the summer heading into my junior year and I was taller than everybody else.
It was fun writing this blog. Thanks for supporting me always. I didn’t always have a lot of support coming out of a tiny college, but I want to thank the fans for supporting me.
