UPDATE (9:06pm) - Malcom Floyd has a knee strain. No other details are available at this time, but we will continue to bring you updates from the official source.
Head Coach Mike McCoy announced on Monday that wide receiver Malcom Floyd will get an MRI on his leg after sustaining an injury during practice.
“Malcom as you all saw went down today,” he said. “He’s going to get an MRI in the next little bit here and we’ll keep you updated…You never know in those situations when guys go down like that. A lot of times guys get scared. Everybody reacts differently to it. I’ve never had one of those injuries so I can’t tell you what it is or what happened exactly on any injuries we’ve had this year. So it’s just one of those deals (where) everyone reacts to it differently, and we’ll keep you guys updated.”
Floyd is entering his eighth NFL season. He was on his way to a 1,000 yard season last year when an ankle injury in Week 15 cut his campaign short. Still, Floyd managed to lead the team with a career-high 56 catches for 814 yards and five touchdowns. Since becoming a key cog in the Chargers offense in 2008, Floyd has totaled 208 catches for 3,268 yards and 21 touchdowns. His 17.5 yards per catch average during the past five seasons is the third-highest in the NFL over that span.
