Throughout training camp, we’ll be giving Chargers players the opportunity to talk directly to you, the fans, with blog entries of their own. Today’s entry is from wide receiver Malcom Floyd.
So what’s on my mind...
Well, the receivers are improving each day out there. We’re taking the mistakes we make out on the field and are learning from them. That’s all you can really ask for. It feels good to be the longest tenured guy in our group. The other guys ask me for tips a lot and some advice and I’m happy to give it whenever I can. I like being able to help out the young guys because I was once in that position.
It’s kind of cool when I think about how I was once that young and how you fans have watched me grow. I love being a Charger because of the fans and how they’ve grown with me. You guys have watched me for 10 years now. I still feel young, but sometimes I lose track and don’t realize many of you have been watching me since you were young kids. I really appreciate that and really appreciate the support.
I’ve been in a lot of training camps, but this one is different for me simply because it’s a new coaching staff. Everyone is starting with a clean slate, so you have to go out there and prove yourself all over again. I think that’s the main difference this year so I’m pushing it even harder than I did before. But I’ve got to take care of my body every day.
We’ve tasted the playoffs a bunch of years in a row and it’s left a sour taste in my mouth that we haven’t been there in a few years. I know the potential of this team and I know where we can get especially with the talent level, so I’m really excited for this year.
Thanks for letting me have this blog entry today because without you guys I wouldn’t be here. This game is all about the fans, and I think of you every time I’m on the field.
