Every fan watching a Chargers game sees the on-field actions of second-year defensive end Kendall Reyes: shoving offensive linemen, shedding blockers and sacking the quarterback.
But what most fans don’t see is the preparation Reyes puts in before the opening kickoff.
Reyes drives to Qualcomm Stadium three hours before game time “to be in that moment, just visualizing the game.”
Walking into the locker room, Reyes begins his game day routine starting with getting in the hot tub, stretching, and running to “get a little sweat going” before warming up with the team.
“When I’m in the tunnel getting ready for the game, I know it’s game time,” Reyes said. “I’m not thinking about anything besides the game. I know I’m prepared, so I’m just ready to play. All the preparation is done. I’m warmed up and ready to go. I’m just really amped up.”
Reyes finished the 2012 season with 28 total tackles and 5.5 sacks, including 3.5 sacks against the New York Jets in Week 16. See what else Reyes does to prepare before a game. Read
